What if you could carve out some time for yourself? Perhaps an hour that allowed you to unwind and relax. Time that found you solace and harmony. A moment to listen to your body's needs and allow you to nurture yourself. Then a relaxation massage might be the answer…
A relaxation massage is aimed at giving both you and your body a time out. A relaxation massage is not only about the massage techniques employed, but also about the atmosphere of the treatment room. A combination of soft lighting and soothing music helps to induce a feeling of peace and calm.
The massage sequence itself is designed to be smooth, flowing and continuous. Most often Swedish massage techniques are used for relaxation massage. Swedish massage has five basic movements - effleurage, kneading, frictions, petrissage and tapotements, and when combined with the more advanced techniques of rocking, jostling, vibration and compression, a relaxation massage can be applied to the full body or to certain parts of it (say for instance just the back or the legs).
Another form of relaxation massage which is now available at Therapy Masters is Temple Style Lomi Lomi. Lomi Lomi is an ancient style of massage which originated within the Hawaiian culture. The term Lomi Lomi means "to knead", "to squeeze" and "to make soft" and the Hawaiians believed that where there was softness and no tension within the body, then there could be no illness.
This flowing style of massage includes long fluid strokes that are reminiscent of waves on the shore. The therapist utilises both their hands and forearms to provide the client with a full body treatment. The lighter depth of the treatment improves circulation, lymphatic drainage, is deeply relaxing and is suitable for all ages and most health conditions.
