Feature Article: The Cost of Massage Therapy
Just what are you getting for your money?
In this article, we explore the costs associated with Massage Therapy comparing it to three different types of therapies Osteopathy, Physio and Chiropractic.
Your Therapy Masters therapist will spend part of each treatment enquiring about your stress levels, personal and professional life, to gain a better understanding of what you and your body are currently experiencing. This information not only allows them to build rapport and a connection with you, but also allows them to tailor the treatment specifically to your needs and areas of concern.
Your massage therapist is solely focused on you and your treatment. Professional massage therapists only treat one client at a time, so you are assured of receiving your therapist’s dedicated focus and attention for the duration of your treatment. Other health professionals often treat multiple clients at the same time, moving from treatment room to treatment, which doesn’t allow for the exclusive one-on-one treatment which you receive from your Therapy Masters therapist.

Just like our other health professional colleagues, Therapy Masters’ remedial therapists have studied anatomy and physiology of the human body, as well as pharmacology, pathology, exercise physiology, and biomechanics. We have also completed study of the Range of Motion (ROM) of the body’s joints, gait, postural analyses, and assessment and treatment protocols, as well as the physical application of a range of massage techniques such as trigger point therapy, myofascial release, shifting, digital ischaemic pressures (DIPs), deep transverse frictions (DTFs), effleurage and tapotements. We are also taught the physiological and mechanical effects that these techniques have on the body, and the potential emotional or psychological responses that the client may also experience.
We understand the connection between function and form, the physical and emotional, and aim to improve all aspects of a client’s well-being. As professional massage therapists, we are instilled with the basics of a good bedside manner to explain how the body works, what treatments we are going to apply, and to what areas of the body, and the likely effects of these treatments. We also give our clients post-treatment recommendations to better help them manage their own condition.
So for your investment you are receiving dedicated one-on-one treatment from a trained health professional who not only cares about your physical needs, but is concerned with the overall snapshot of your health and lifestyle. Massage therapy is therefore a cost effective and comprehensive modality that people should consider.
