Principal Practitioner: Lisa Allmey-LaMaitre

Lisa began her tertiary studies with a Bachelor of Science degree at the Australian National University, majoring in Biology, Psychology and Neuroscience. Lisa then went on to complete the Advanced Diploma in Applied Science (Remedial Massage) at the Canberra Institute of Technology.

Lisa has been a Health Practitioner for 25 years.

Lisa's interest in Sports Massage began while working and travelling with several Motorsport teams. From 1999 until 2001 Lisa worked with a number of Rally teams who competed in the Australian Rally Championship (ARC).

She then furthered her training by becoming a Level One Sports Trainer through Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) in 2001.

From 2000-2009 Lisa worked extensively with the sport of Gridiron (American Football). Lisa has travelled and worked at all levels within the sport - from the local junior and senior grades, through to State, National and International Representative teams. Lisa had been the Head Sports Trainer to the ACT Monarchs (2001-2003), Arena Football League (AFL) Pacific Rim Training Camp (2002), the Australian Outback Junior and Senior Representative teams (2003), the Arena Football League (AFL) All-Star Team Downunder (2003), and the Under 19s New Zealand IronBlacks (2009). 

From this extensive experience Lisa specialises in Event Preparation, Injury Management and Recovery.

Lisa has completed additional training in Functional Fascial Taping (FFT) with Ron Alexander (2008), TRE (Trauma Release Exercise) with Dr David Berceli (2011), Oncology Massage (Module One) through Oncology Massage Training (2012), certification in Kinesiology taping with Rocktape (2014), Evidence Based Relaxation Therapies with Dr Judy Lovas (2015) and Introduction to Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) 2018 also with Dr Lovas. Lisa completed studies in Understanding Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Understanding Dementia through the University of Tasmania and the Wicking Dementia Centre (2021).  

Lisa studied and became a Clinical Resource Therapist in 2020. Resource Therapy is a trauma informed psychotherapy that helps people deal with a problem they are facing.

In 2006 Lisa received her attunement to Level 1 Usui Reiki and in 2011 was attuned to the level of Reiki Master (Seichim and Usui). Lisa furthered her training in Energy Healing by completing training in ThetaHealing (DNA 1 Basic and Advanced, DNA 2 Basic and Advanced) in 2013, and ThetaHealing Manifestation training in 2015.

Lisa is a writer and has had both health and business articles published across of range of local and national publications. Lisa has been interviewed for both her business and health expertise across a range of media outlets including on radio (2018), with podcasts (2021), in digital magazines (2022) and on television (2018). 

Lisa completed a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment in 2015 and has been a casual teacher with The Australian Institute of Fitness, the Canberra Institute of Technology and currently teaches business and innovation through the Academy of Entrepreneurs. Lisa is regularly invited to speak at business and health events across Canberra and Sydney. Lisa has notably spoken at TEDxCanberra Women (2016), the Festival of Ambitious Ideas (2017 and 2019), Feminartsy Story-Share (2018) and at Women's Entrepreneurship Day (2021).

Lisa created an events platform in late 2015 called Canberra Wise Women. Canberra Wise Women was born from Lisa's personal experiences of loss and PTSD. Canberra Wise Women's mission has been to share positivity and inspiration through stories of inspiring Canberrans! To date there have been 25 LIVE Canberra Wise Women events, interviewing 58 Canberrans, bringing over 1,000 people together!

Lisa has been a mentor with Global Sisters, Inspiring Rare Birds, Innovation ACT, the ANU's MomentuM and Pathfinder programs, and also with the Academy of Entrepreneurs. Here she has offered support, guidance and business advice to start up businesswomen and students from across the globe.

Lisa's commitment to business and helping others has been recognised with a number of Awards including: Winner Canberra Business Blitz (2009), Finalist Canberra Businesspoint Awards (2014), Finalist Lifeline Canberra Women of Spirit Awards (2016), Finalist 'Soaring Solo' category Altitude Awards (2017), State Finalist 'Community Leader' Australian Leadership Excellence Awards (2017), Winner Strategic Connector of the Year Altitude Awards (2018), Finalist 'Through the Woods' category Altitude Awards (2019), Winner 'Best Tailored Massage Treatment Provider' Canberra Australian Enterprise Awards (2019) and 'Health Innovator of the Year' Canberra Australian Enterprise Awaess (2019), Finalist 'Revolutionary Award' category Altitude Awards (2020). 

Lisa has also taken the opportunity to compete in business competitions; teaming up with other Canberra business women. Team WOW have placed at two Hackathon events by finding innovative health solutions to the problems outlined at each competition. Team WOW won Start Up Camp Canberra (2017) and placed third at #FatigueHACK (2018).

In October 2019 Lisa was appointed to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) being overseen by SkillsIQ. The TAC was made up of only ten Massage Industry experts from across Australia, Lisa was one of two Massage Professionals appinted to the TAC from the Canberra region. The TAC were tasked with reviewing and updating the current national Australian Massage qualifications (Certificate and Diploma of Massage Therapy). This review was completed in August 2020. The new Training Packages for the National Massage curriculum will hopefully be available from 2023. Lisa also sits on the Massage Industry Panel for the Canberra Massage Industry, advising the Canberra Institute of Technology on what the Canberra Industry needs to remain productive and sustainable, and continue to improve the health of Canberrans.

In April 2021 Lisa began leading Women With Altitude (WWA) in Canberra. WWA are a national business women's community that seeks to education, empower and uplift career and business women. The Canberra chapter hosts regularly networking, training and community events.

Lisa is a member of Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) and PRACI (Practitioner Research and Collaboration Initiative).
